Welcome back to the drill. I was doing pretty good this week update wise, til I skipped a day. Oh well.
As I write this, closing arguments in the Michael Jackson trial have wrapped up and the jury is now going to decide Michael's fate. It could be a slam dunk or it could be a long drawn out delibiration. I would be surprised if it is drawn out though. I would say no later than next wed we'll have our verdict. Barring any sensational delays of course.
So after seemingly being on track, the production of "X3: X-Men 3" took a huge hit yesterday when director Matthew Vaughn decided to drop out of the project citing family concerns. According to FOX, the film is still on track to begin production in a few weeks and WILL make its May 26th, 2006 open date. Now the question turns to just WHO will direct "X3". As far as the casting goes, Kelsey Grammer and Vinnie Jones were tapped to play "Beast" and "Juggernaught" respectively. The principal actors, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellan have all agreed to return. Unknown at this time is the fate of "Storm" played by Halle Berry. More as it develops.
I will have the opporunity to watch an advanced screening of "Batman Begins" next week at the WB lot. Hopefully this movie can help kick start a franchise that suffered from overexposure and sillyness in its last few installments. Warner Bros is hopeful they can resurrect "Batman" into a money maker and have already planned at least two sequels if "Begins" does well.
Opening this week in theatres: "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", "Cinderella Man" and "Lords of Dogtown." So you've got a chick flick, a movie for the hardcore purists and a skateboard flick for the shredders out there. Should be interesting to see if any of these can knock off "Revenge of the Sith". I doubt it, but you just never know.
"Superman Returns" continues to chug along and here's a pic of star Brandon Routh as Clark Kent
OK, he makes a perfect Clark Kent. But as far as Superman is concerned. I just dont know.
Maybe I just dont like the costume. Hmm.. As long as the movie is good, it doesnt matter what he looks like!
Alright, that will do it for the week. I hope you all enjoy your weekends and hopefully I'll have more stuff for you all next week. Til then...
