Hello everyone and welcome back to the Two Minute Drill!!!! Hope those St Patrick's Day hangovers are all cured. ;-)
Lets get to it shall we?
Dodger Stadium Construction (UPDATE!!!!)
OK, they're spoiling us now. The Dodgers released more shots of the ongoing construction at Dodger Construction
They've painted the wall to match the original colors as well!
The Dugout Club seats have been installed
Another look at the nearly complete "box" seats
Crack kills!! ;-) New graphics are being put on the dugouts as well.
Meanwhile, the picnic area continues to take shape. This will be a fountain in the middle of the area.
Only 14 more days til Opening Day!!
Superman Returns
A new picture was released last week
Fortress of Solitude
I'm hoping to have more on "Superman Returns" soon. I'll be putting up pictures from the recent "Toy Fair" later this week showing all the new action figures Warner Bros is putting out. It'll give you a good idea what Brandon Routh looks like as Superman. ;-)
Spider-Man 3 teaser
Sony has tentatively set the first Spider-Man 3 trailer to debut in front of its summer film "Talladega Nights" starring Will Ferrell. The film will open on August 4th. I would think that Sony would be premiering it in front of a bigger movie, but I guess they want to give this movie an attendance bump. Things could still change though, so stay tuned!
You'll Never Stop The Simpsons!!
FOX has announced that the Simpsons has been renewed for two more seasons, bringing TV's longest running (and IMO funniest) TV series into 2008. Thats 19 seasons of The Simpsons ladies and gentlemen!! I never, in my wildest dreams thought I would be talking about The Simpsons in the year 2006!!! But yet, here we are! True, lately the series has started to slow down a bit, but just when you think they're DOA, they make you laugh outloud again. Can they make it to 20 seasons? I guess we'll find out.
Weekend Box Office
Hugo Weaving as "V" in "V for Vendetta"
1) V for Vendetta, $26.1 million: The Matrix people do it again! I have to admit, that when I first saw the trailer for this film, it reminded me too much of "Zorro". I mean the character even leaves a "V" wherever he strikes (Similar to Zorro's "Z"). But then as I saw more of the film in previews and what not, I became more intrigued. I havent seen it, but the "buzz" this morning has been positive for it.
2) Failure to Launch, $15.8 million: Last weeks champ slips down a notch. With no romantic comedies out there, it should do well for a few weeks more.
3) The Shaggy Dog, $13.6 million: Slips down two spots from last week. Another film that should hang around due to the lack of competition.
4) She's the Man, $11.0 million: The weekends other big opening places 4th. It looked like it would have an audience, but the plot line might have thrown people off. Plus, if you noticed in these last few weeks, they changed the marketing of the movie. Went from a movie about a girl pretending to be her brother and whatever, to just another typical teen movie.
5) The Hills Have Eyes, $8.0 million: Down two spots from last week. This was a low budget horror film, so it should turn a profit fairly soon.
OK, that will do it for now. Here's to another (hopefully) good week!!
Til the next time!
